Donors rarely learn whether a specific tree was planted, where it stands, or whether it survived. In a market where honest projects and greenwashing look identical from outside, trust collapses to the level of the worst actor.
Eco mining answers both at once: the work that earns the reward is planting a real tree, and the evidence that the tree exists is written to a public blockchain that nobody can quietly edit.
How it works in practice
- Plant and register. A native species, in a place where it can survive, recorded in the app the day it goes in the ground.
- Verify it. A photograph carrying its location, checked automatically, becomes a permanent on-chain record called Proof of Growth.
- Earn from the first confirmed year. Once the tree has come through its first year and been confirmed standing, that year earns its reward, and so does every year after it.
- Re-verify every year. One fresh photo confirms the tree still stands, and earns the reward for another year.

Why the reward grows with the tree
A newly planted seedling absorbs roughly 5 to 6 kg of CO2 a year. By its fifth year that is 10 to 12 kg, by its tenth 15 to 18 kg, and a mature tree reaches 22 to 25 kg annually. Carbon capture is not flat, so a reward tied to it should not be flat either.

What makes it credible or not
Any model like this stands or falls on two questions, and they are worth asking of any project that claims something similar.
- Is the proof public? A record in a private database is worth what the company behind it is worth. A record on a public chain can be checked by a stranger.
- Can the token supply be inflated? If new tokens can be created at will, everything else is decoration. Read how to check that yourself.
What makes the record hard to fake
A photograph on its own proves very little. What gives Proof of Growth its weight is everything attached to it, and the fact that all of it is public.
- Every record has a place. A verification carries the coordinates it was made at, so each tree occupies its own ground. Two records cannot quietly claim the same few metres.
- Every record has a history. A tree builds its file year after year, from sapling to full canopy, at the same coordinates. That growing history is worth far more than any single photograph, and it is something only real time can produce.
- Every record is permanent. Once a year of growth is written to the blockchain it stays there, exactly as it was. Nobody can go back and adjust it later, including us.

Why the reward is paid every year
The reward arrives annually, for as long as the tree is confirmed standing. That single choice shapes everything else.
It rewards care. A planter who chooses a species suited to the ground, plants it where it has water and returns each year to confirm it is thriving is rewarded for exactly that, year after year. The tree becomes something worth looking after rather than a box ticked once and forgotten.
It also keeps the numbers honest. A tree absorbs more CO2 as it matures, so a reward that grows alongside it stays tied to what the tree is really doing. The planter's income, the tree's survival and the climate benefit all pull in the same direction, which is unusual, and it is the whole point of the design.
How this differs from buying a carbon offset
Both involve a payment and a tree, and they are not the same transaction.
- Who plants. With eco mining, you do. And you are the one rewarded for it.
- What it is. An offset is a certificate stating that an amount of carbon was avoided or removed on your behalf. Proof of Growth is a public record that a particular tree stood at a particular place on a particular date.
- What you can see. With an offset, the project behind it is rarely visible to the buyer and an intermediary vouches for it. Here the tree itself is on the chain, so the evidence can be checked at the source rather than taken on trust.
And it costs almost nothing to run. Solana settles each reward for a fraction of a cent on a proof-of-stake network, so the energy behind a verification is negligible. The work that earns the token is a tree absorbing carbon, not a machine burning power to produce it.
The two fit together well. Verified, dated, located planting records are exactly the raw material a serious carbon market needs and usually lacks, which is why building that record properly comes first. A credit is a separate, audited instrument, and it is built on top of evidence like this.
